How To Use A Circulating Pump With A Tankless Water Heater

Many home and industrial water heaters are designed to produce hot water as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, most of them do not circulate hot water to a point away from the hot water heater. This is why it’s important to use a circulating pump with your water heater to keep the hot water moving in an even, more consistent manner.
Today, we’re going to show you how to use a circulating pump with a tankless water heater in order to get a fresh and hot supply of water for less than half the cost.
If you have a tankless water heater (or simply “tankless”), the chances are good that you’ve heard about a circulating pump. It sounds like a pretty cool concept, right? It certainly can be, but it’s also a big, heavy, expensive piece of equipment. And it needs to be installed by a professional plumber, which means a lot of wasted time and money.
This article will show you how to install an in-wall circulating pump for a tankless water heater.
Installation Tips
1.Before installing the vacuum pump, first check that the pipeline system is properly plumbed and ensure that impurities, welding slag, dirt, and the like have been removed. The output of the voltage adapter is a low voltage DC 24 volts. When installing this equipment, the filter screen can be removed and cleaned regularly, or not installed. It’s up to you whether to install this water filter in your home, but it’s best to have it if you live in areas with high amounts of water hardness. There’s no need to put in this screen if the water in the pipe is always clean.
2.The pump must be installed or maintained by a professional plumber. Install the pump according to the installation diagram per the pump. Pay attention to the water pipe connection between the water inlet and the water outlet. After installation, check the pump and all pipe fittings to ensure that there are no leaks (as see in page). Avoid splashing water on the pump to avoid electric shock.
3. Once you have connected the power adapter, check for proper start-up, but no dry (non-water) running time should last longer than 5 seconds to prevent any damage to the bearings.
4.This pump comes with a manual shutoff valve that should be turned on before the start of the water treatment.
5.Do inspections and maintenance regularly. Keep an eye on the machine to spot any damage6. If the HBS24-12 pump is not used for a long time, or if no one is at home, close the water pipe inlet valve at the inlet and outlet, and turn off the power
7.If the cable or power adapter is damaged, it must be replaced.
8.If the electric pump stops running in winter when the ambient temperature is below 0°C, the water must be drained from the pipeline to prevent the pump from freezing and cracking.
Step 1. Choose the appropriate place to install the pump
Pump should be installed under the farthest faucet from the water heater in each loop.
Note: Make sure you consider how the pump will be supported and where there is access to an electrical outlet before you install it.
Step 2. Turn off water heater
Turn off the water heater.
Step 3. Turn off water
Disconnect the cold water line from the water heater.
Step 4. Drain the water lines:
Remove the caps from the water heater’s drain valves and then turn them so that they allow the water to drain from the tank.
Note:If the water continues to flow, check to make sure that it has been completely turned off.If the valve for the house does not shut off the flow of water, turn the main water valve off.
Step 5. connect the hot water line
Disconnect the hot water line from the faucet with the hot water valve. Connect the brass tee to the 1/2″ NPT inlet of the pump. Make sure the rubber gasket is on the brass tee.
Connect the faucet’s hot water line to the brass tee and then connect one 1/2 inch supply line (available in the package) to this brass tee. After that, connect this 1/2 inch supply line to the hot water angle valve.
Step 6. connect the cold water line
Use the cold water angle valve to disconnect the cold water pipe leading to the faucet. Connect the brass tee to the 1/2” NPT outlet of the pump.
Please make sure the rubber gasket is on the brass tee. Connect the faucet’s cold water pipe to this brass tee and then connect one 1/2 inch supply line (provided in the package) to the brass tee.
After that, connect this 1/2 inch supply line to the cold water angle valve.
Step 6. Tighten faucet supply lines
Ensure that there are rubber washers on the female threaded end of the pipe connection hose adapters. Tighten it and turn it a quarter turn with a wrench.
Use pipe dope or Teflon tape to seal the threads when connecting to a 1/2 female NPT connection.
If a flexible copper gasket water heater connector is used then pipe dope or Teflon tape is not required.
Step 7. fixed water pump
Ensure that the pump shaft is horizontal.
7.1(optional) Find a suitable installation position (on the backwater pipe near the water heater end).
When installing the water pump support plate in advance, place the support plate in the pre-installed position and mark the mounting holes with a marker.
7.2 Insert the plastic expansion screw into the hole drilled in the wall.
7.3 Fix the support plate on the wall using the self-tapping screws.
7.4 Clip the pump onto the hook of the support plate as indicated by the arrow.
Step 8. Turn on both the hot water and cold water angle valves.
Step 9. Plug the line cord of the pump into a 115V outlet.
Step 10. Test pump operation
Turning on any hot water faucet will start the pump.

what is the preset internal temperature at which the pump stops operating? Can this temperature be adjusted?

THE REMOTE CONTROL DOESN’T WORK.
THE WATER LINES ARE TOO SHORT TO INSTALL THIS DEVICE. THE “HOOKS” ARE NOT THAT GOOD TO INSTALL OR ANCHOR THE PUMP ON THE WALL.
NEED A LOT OF IMPROVING IN REGARD TO THIS PUMP.
MODERATION ON WHAT?
After installation, the system worked great – after a while longer the cold faucet was also giving out hot water – after further time both the hot and cold water including the bathroom toilet flush was showing dirty water – after disconnecting the system over night and without reconnecting, the hot and cold water was clear again – Please advise what my concerns are – thank you
The pump was designed to circulating the water in your pipe. If there is no back water pipe, the pump will push the hot waeter to your cold water pipe and back to the water heater.

I have the unit installed but I’m not sure how to know if the pump shaft is horizontal. I see the pump in your diagrams with the fitting top and bottom and left to right. Which one is correct?
Is there a way to set the pump to constantly run and let me turn it off and on with a smart outlet?
You can set the pump in Smart mode (Orange light) and use a smart wifi plug to control the pump. This pump is high speed and own the memory function. I am getting warm water in cold water line. I am told that I can install a small check valve to eliminate the problem. If so, do you install it on the inlet or outlet side?
The ball valve needs to be installed on the outlet of the pump to reduce the hot water pipe pressure to avoid the hot water into the cold water faucet.
